Our Mission
Our mission is to provide corporate and individual business opportunities to our members and their guests through regular networking, business, and social events, and the promotion of LGBTIQ professionals in the business community.
Our History
- Established in 1981 by Michael Glynn (founder of SSO)
- First LGBTIQ business organisation in Australia
- Evolved from the need for a safe place for LGBTIQ business people to meet like-minded professionals during a time when being LGBTIQ was still a criminal offence in NSW
- Founded & launched the first Fair Day in October 1982

Contact our membership team to discuss corporate membership packages tailored for your organisation.
Corporate memberships can be shaped based on your needs and objectives as a company.
The SGLBA has over 350 members and nearly 3,600 people on its database. Membership is diverse, drawing from all walks of life, including corporates, business owners, self-employed professionals, media / arts, health and medical, legal, IT and more.
Membership is available to all members of the community, LGBTI and allies alike. We believe by encouraging a diversity of people to our events, so to is there a diversity of opportunity.
Membership is about putting your business in front of others, growing your network, and increasing your knowledge.
Investing in SGLBA membership provides you with these opportunities.
The more you maximise these, the greater the return on your membership investment.
We partner with other organisations that recognise the benefits of association with the SGLBA. We have a selection of member benefits based on the level of membership you choose to invest in. These range from complimentary entry to our monthly social networking groups, to partnerships with the NSW Business Chamber and others. It all depends on what level best suits your needs.
Learn more by selecting a membership level, or contact Natasha Badrov, our Member Services Manager today.
Your membership dues may be tax deductible. Check with your Accountant.
