Happy 20th Birthday
Lemons with a Twist®
with Heartbreaker Sydney
Friday 1st October 1999 was the first-ever Lemons with a Twist, held at the Nova Cocktail Bar on the first floor above what is now Café Cabano at Taylor Square.
Twenty years later, still on a Friday night and about 100 metres from the first event, 200+ guests celebrated the longest-running Lesbian event in the southern hemisphere – Lemons with a Twist.
Driven by SGLBA board members Vicky Brackenreg and Simon Davies, we wonder if all these years later they saw that Lemons would survive to become a staple of Sydney regular LGBTI calendar.
About our the She Collective
The She Collective is a business that aims to address the disparity in gender representation in the Australian music industry through booking female and gender non-binary musicians and running education and empowering workshops for school-aged girls.
The SGLBA is proud to be associated with Kim Sheehy by providing live performance opportunities at events like Lemons Live. Book your tickets now for Friday 1st November 2019.
About Lemons with a Twist®
What’s it about?
Longevity is a hard thing to come by for women’s nights in the queer scene but Lemons has defied the odds. Since 1999, Lemons with a Twist has provided a safe place for like-minded Lesbians and their friends to connect, make new friendships and meet in a relaxed and fun environment.
SGLBA welcomes members of the LGBTIQ community and their allies to all its events.
Who attends?
Lemons with a Twist is a regular, largely social event, attracting about 200 attendees. It’s a great opportunity to catch up with friends early in the evening, then a little later, join popular DJs or enjoy live entertainment and party the night away!
