The SGLBA is proud to be a Community Partner with ACON for the Honour Awards 2016.

The following is a press release from ACON dated 19th September, 2016.

Want to get luxury holidays, art, jewellery, and VIP experiences at bargain prices?  Guests at this year’s Honour Awards will be able to get this and more as part of the event’s popular charity auction.

Now in their tenth year, the Honour Awards recognise outstanding achievements within or contributions to NSW’s LGBTI* community. The awards are also a gala fundraising event for LGBTI charity Aurora and for ACON, NSW’s leading HIV prevention, HIV support and LGBTI health organisation.

34 finalists, a raft of celebrities and community leaders, and 350 guests will pack the glamourous Ivy Ballroom in Sydney on Thursday 29 September for an inspirational awards ceremony and fabulously fun cocktail party.

A big part of the evening is the amazing silent auction which this year features close to $100,000 worth of products, services and unique experiences. This year’s auction is being sponsored by Chase Gallery and a range of their original lithographs, etchings and mixed media prints by the most celebrated artists of the modern era will be available including works by Marc Chagall, Salvador Dali, Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse and Joan Miro among others.

To coincide with SBS’s upcoming broadcast of the Deep Water drama series and documentary about Sydney’s gay hate murders in the 1980s, a specially commissioned artwork by acclaimed Bondi photographer Eugene Tan of Aquabumps fame will also be auctioned, with the money raised going towards the construction of a planned memorial to the murder victims.

The online auction will go live on Monday 26 September and for the first time will be accessible to any member of the public. Bidding details are on the Honour Awards website. Some of the standout items at this year’s auction include:
