Australian law firm Lander & Rogers announced that Accredited Family Law Specialist Collette McFawn has joined the firm as a partner in its Sydney Family & Relationship Law practice.

Ms McFawn, who joins the firm from Watts McCray where she was a partner, is an experienced family lawyer who represents clients across the spectrum of family law matters, including complex financial matters, parenting cases involving serious allegations of violence and abuse, applications by one parent to relocate a child’s residence, and de facto matters.

Co-Head of Family Law Mark Parker said, “Collette is well known in the Sydney market for her expertise in family law. In addition to her legal skills, Collette previously held a senior management position in Audit & Risk Management with a publicly listed company, and her strong academic base combined with her specialist family law experience give her a unique understanding and perspective in resolving family law matters.

“Lander & Rogers opened a permanent Family & Relationship Law practice in Sydney earlier this year, following 25 years of the team operating across the Eastern Seaboard from Melbourne, and Collette will be instrumental in continuing the growth of our practice both in Sydney and nationally.

“It is not just about national growth, though. As the world has become smaller, the movement in cross-border jurisdictions has increased. In recent years, we have seen a large growth in work which has involved Australian family law and its intersection with the family law jurisdictions in the Asian market, in particular Singapore and Hong Kong. Collette’s expertise will broaden the specialist offering that we can provide to expat Australians in need of advice in these situations.”

Speaking of her appointment, Ms McFawn said, “I am thrilled to join Lander & Rogers’ Family & Relationship Law practice at this exciting time in its growth.

“There is a natural cross over between family law and the commercial practices at Lander & Rogers, for example with the firm’s Corporate group in relation to complex financial matters. This is a real benefit for many of our high net worth clients who tend to have large and complicated asset pools, as it means we are able—where necessary—to draw on the firm’s broader in-house commercial expertise to ensure that we achieve the best possible outcome for our clients.”

Ms McFawn is an Accredited Family Law Specialist who is recognised in the 2016 edition of Doyle’s Guide of Leading NSW Family and Divorce Lawyers for her expertise in Family Law. She joins Special Counsel, Jodylee Bartal, Senior Associate, Tim Gough, and Lawyer, Nicola Cooper, in the firm’s Sydney Family & Relationship Law practice.
